"The Merchant (working) class had many of their own ideas about the world they inhabited. They were big factors of change in the arts, the government, and the economy. They believed their earnings were the result of their individual merit and hard work, unlike the traditional aristocrats (old ruling class)." "Individualism, freedom, and change replaced community, authority, and tradition as core values"

now days we work together. we dont take credit for just one person. I dont see how we compare fellow americans today to them back then.
we are not like them we dont take credit for one person we take credit for the group and I dont see comparison bettween us now and them earler
Enlightnenment- There were many changes in society such as art, government, and religion. With all of it being new they were all better ideas than what they had to begin with so the changes were for the better.
Today- our society is still changing. The economy is becoming less and less stable, the government has a tendancy to be corrupt, and there is always going to be a dispute over religion
Things have changed a lot between the Enlightenment and today. Today the government is a democracy, which was just being developed during the Enlightenment period. Also the economy is a lot different. There are more freedoms now, which were just being thought of back then. The working class has more rights then it did in the past. Also religion was more prominent during the Enlightenment then now. We've continued humanism which began back then though.

From my point of view the working class is still looked down upon by those of higher class. Those of us that work a 9-5 and barely scape by don't get near as much freedom as movie stars, sport players and government officials. when we get pulled into court they just want to lock us up with out care. But when people like OJ and Micheal Jackson go to court they drag it out and allow them to fight for a shot at freedom. Even those that go onto college and get a good career are still not looked at as the best. Unless a person makes roughly a couple million by just sitting around they aren't going to get as much say. When a president does something wrong all he does is apoligize to the general public pay a fine that to us looks big but to him is nothing but a little bit of change. Then if he really screwed up he resigns, but he still gets to make millions of retirement and get all those nice presidental privileges. And when me or the guy down the street making 9.50 a hour gets a traffic ticket and has a hard time coming up with the 100 dollar fine they won't let him work out a payment plan they'll just give him the 30 days or whatever in jail. It don't matter if he was a high school sports star or a teacher for the deaf, he dosen't have the money power or fame so they don't care.
